WHAT IS DYNAMIC MOVEMENT MEDITATION?

When we think of meditation, we usually have in mind the image of monks who sit in silence. SATI Dynamic meditation seems to be just the opposite, full of movement and with the possibility, in some phases, to express strong emotions.

Mindfulness is the biggest part of movement meditation; for example, being mindful of your muscles as they move or the feeling of your feet against the floor as you move. You notice various parts of your body that are otherwise ignored such as your hip, elbow, or cheek. You begin to pay attention to the body and how it feels as it moves, bends, and twists. Even your breathing, heartbeat, and other inner sensations will be better noticed when you are mindful of the body.

Movement meditation focuses on the movements of the body rather than the goal of the movement.

BENEFITS OF DYNAMIC MOVEMENT MEDITATION

Unlike exercise where the main objective is to get in better physical shape, the main objective of dynamic movement meditation is to notice the sensations of the body in motion. Active mindfulness practice brings the mind and body in an union which regulates the nervous system.

Benefits of the Dynamic Movement Meditation:

– reduced levels of stress and anxiety
– helps to reduce physical pain and boost the immune system
– lowering blood pressure & increased blood flow to the brain (GP approval required)
– encourages deep relaxation and feelings of peace
– focuses the mind and promotes deep sleep
– increased concentration
– enhances creativity and opens the mind to new ideas
– identifies and balances emotions
– can create a deeper understanding and awareness of other people
– can help to connect you to your spiritual purpose/direction
– can help with creating your day and making grounded decisions

WHAT TO EXPECT?

During dynamic meditation, we should follow the intelligence of the body. This means that we need to listen to it. Allow it to develop the various movements on its own. The process that can heal and cleanse the body can only take place when we are able to really understand how to follow the movements that arise from the depths of our body. In this way, instead of forcing our body to behave according to our preconceived ideas and images, our system will learn how to listen, follow, and develop its own healing abilities.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS?

This type of meditation has only positive effects, as physical movements help you focus your thoughts on the movements themselves, allowing you to flow in the river of your unguided thoughts while keeping your mind clear and focused.
